Chiropractic Care

‍ ‍2 credits for 30 min.

Your care is centered entirely around your comfort, preferences, and individual needs. Each visit may include a blend of techniques such as drop-table adjustments, instrument-assisted methods, gentle diversified adjustments, and joint mobilization; selected specifically to match what feels right for your body.

Your treatment is designed to feel approachable and non-intimidating, especially if you’re new to chiropractic or unsure what to expect. Adjustments are performed with comfort in mind, and soft tissue techniques are often incorporated to enhance relief and support better overall results.

Throughout your session, everything is explained step-by-step so you feel informed, supported, and at ease. You’ll also learn simple body-awareness strategies and practical tools you can use outside the office, helping you better understand your body and your care.

For your appointment, wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. If you would like work performed beyond the spine, such as on the shoulders or hips, tank tops and shorts are recommended to allow access to those areas.

  • While many patients experience significant benefit, it is important to understand potential side effects so you can make informed choices and recognize when to seek further care.

    Common, mild side effects

    • Soreness or ache: Mild soreness in the treated area is common and usually resolves within 24–72 hours. It often feels similar to post-exercise muscle stiffness.

    • Temporary increased pain: A slight, short-term increase in pain or stiffness can occur as tissues adapt to adjustments.

    • Headache: Mild headaches may follow cervical (neck) adjustments and typically subside within a day.

    • Fatigue: Some patients report feeling tired after a session as the nervous system responds to treatment.

When to contact your provider or emergency services

    • New or worsening neurological symptoms (numbness, weakness, coordination problems)

    • Symptoms that persist or worsen beyond a few days

    • Rest briefly: Sit or lie quietly for 5–10 minutes. Allow your nervous system and spine to settle into the new alignment; sudden activity can counteract the adjustment.

    • Hydrate: Drink a full glass of water within the first hour. Hydration supports disc health and helps flush metabolic byproducts released during treatment.

    • Gentle movement: Walk slowly for 5–10 minutes or perform light, controlled movements (neck rolls, shoulder rolls, gentle hip circles) to encourage circulation and integration of the adjustment.

    • Apply heat or cold as needed: Use moist heat (warm compress) for muscle tightness or cold packs for acute inflammation. Generally, heat for chronic stiffness and cold for new soreness—apply 10–15 minutes at a time.

    • Avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours: Give tissues time to adapt. Note that exercise after adjustments can be ideal, just not strenuous.
